Odyssey has advised a number of private lenders and investment groups regarding distressed investments. Some of these situations have involved fraud by investment managers. These matters involved highly complex structures that necessitated specialized expertise to understand and maximize value for investors.
Odyssey provides clients with a number of services related to financial services companies and investment groups such as turnaround restructuring, valuation services, forensic accounting and distressed mergers and acquisitions advice.
In its role as an advisor, Odyssey has worked on the following engagements:
- Trustee for a group of investors who provided $200 million to a private commercial real estate mortgage lender
- Trustee to an investor group that provided loans for the purchase of 345 residential properties and six commercial properties, representing total debt of over $70 million
- Special financial advisor to a $100 million private real estate investment group involving fraud by the investment manager. Odyssey advised the investment group on restructuring alternatives, took an active role in managing real estate assets, and provided advice on how to maximize recovery value
